When I think about the fact that my dad is no longer walking beside me, I dance. At one point dancing was just dancing, and then I met Mrs. Martinez, the only person that never gives up on me. She showed me how dancing is not just movement, it’s also expressing what you feel inside. Now, when my heart is lonely or crushed, I dance and dance all those feelings out. Dancing helps me express who I really am and guides me toward my future. Dancing gives me the power and the ability to show the world what I can do, and I will not give up on my goal to pursue dance.
Getting this scholarship would mean the world to me because dancing is one of the best things in my life. It helps make me better person in many ways. Financially, I would be unable to afford an opportunity like this, and I would love to dance over the summer in order to keep working on the skills that I have been working so hard on throughout the year. I have learned a lot about myself as a dancer, and I am ready for more of a challenge. Through performances I have found that being on stage is one of the best things a dancer can ever feel. All the sweat and the hard work that has been put into a single piece of choreography makes my love for dance grow bigger. As I dance and I feel the energy flowing through my veins, I am reassured that I am going to be successful not only in dance but in life.
